講座摘要：

We examine whether arguments about managingconflicting objectives that have been made at the firm level also extend to thelevel of a firm′s alliance portfolio, i.e., whether a balance between revenueenhancement and cost reduction attained through access to partner resources viaa firm′s various alliances is collectively similarly beneficial for firmperformance. Additionally, we alsoexamine how the balance-performancerelationship is conditioned by strategic attributes of alliance portfolioconfiguration, specificallyalliance portfolio size and partner resource scope.Based on unique data on firms from the global airline industry over the period1994 to 2008, we find support for the balance – performance relationship,though such balance is less beneficial for firms in the case of accessto abroader resource scope per partner.

主講人簡介：

Sali Li is an Associate Professor at theSonoco International Business Department at the Darla Moore School of Business.Prior to joining the Moore School, he was an Assistant Professor at the LubarSchool of Business, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Professor Li’s primary research interestscover multinational strategy, revisiting the resource based view, andinternational entrepreneurship, with particular focus on emerging economies.His work has been published or is forthcoming in: Academy of Management Review,Asia Pacific Journal of Management, Decision Sciences, Journal of InternationalManagement , Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management,and Strategic Management Journal, etc. He is a member of the Academy ofInternational Business, Academy of Management, and Strategic ManagementSociety.

Additionally, he has served on theeditorial boards of Journal of International Management and Journal ofManagement.
